GOVT SHOULD ENHANCE POLICIES THAT SUPPORT WOMEN – DSaT BOSS
Dziwa Science & Technology Trust, (DSaT) says 8th March is a special day as it reminds people that every woman in the world matters regardless of their status in society.
This year’s International Women’s Day theme is dubbed ‘I am Generation Equality: Realizing Women’s Rights’.
DSaT Executive Director, Veronica Mwaba (in picture) says the theme should be applied to bring together, governments, men, women and the youth to support one another towards economic development.
Mwaba tells Byta FM News that governments must enhance policies that support women to have access to affordable finance, markets, education and land.
She notes that women continue to face many challenges to access modern technology and information despite the world experiencing rapid advancements.
Mwaba cites research suggesting that out of 774 million illiterate adults, two thirds are women.
She has further challenged the media to take an active role to advocate and remind policy makers on their commitments to make life better for citizens.
