REPEALING AND REPLACING THE SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY ACT APPLAUDED BY STAKEHOLDERS.
Dziwa Science and Technology Trust (DSaT) Executive Director Veronica Mwaba has encouraged government to speed up the process of repealing and replacing the Science and Technology Act of 1997.
Ms. Mwaba has told Power News Network that once the piece of legislation is enacted there will be an improved platform for knowledge transfer from universities and research institutions to industry and generate economic value and industry development.
She said her organisation is hopeful that the government will consider increasing support for research and development to keep pace with Technology advancement in Zambia and beyond.
Ms. Mwaba also added that it is her organisations hope that intellectual property will be strengthened to enable researchers be awarded handsomely on their work.
She has urged government to take a long term view and invest massively in Research and Development
