DSAT URGES GOVT. TO BUILD A SCIENCE UNIVERSITY

….and should give 100% bursaries to students to help combat diseases – Ms. Mwaba

Dziwa Science and Technology (DSaT) Founder and Executive Director Ms. Veronica Mwaba has congratulated the Ministry of Science and Technology for it’s dedication towards Science in Zambia.

Ms. Mwaba has stated that the Minister of Science and Technology Mr. Felix Mutati that he is doing a commendable job in the ministry and that he is taking science in the right direction for the future of science.

She disclosed that Science Technology Engineering and Maths (STEM) schools which have been rolled out is a step in the right direction.

Ms. Mwaba noted that the technological advancement is rapid in Zambia, but that there is need to invest in its own people to fight disease, combat climate change, create new industries, secure food security among others.

She stated that the Science agenda should be practical to solve social economic challenges.

Ms. Mwaba said that the Ministry of Science and Technology cannot do it alone but needs consented efforts from all and that time to do that is now.

“There is need to create a dedicated University of Science and Technology, which will provide 100% bursary for science champions regardless of their standing in society,” she advised.

She emphasized the need to make it simple to protect the innovations through PACRA and also a lot of sensitisation to be done on Intellectual property.

Ms. Mwaba advised that there is need to get back to the archives and bring to the fore innovations developed for current market needs.
